Opening Blog Day

Good morning. Today is the opening day for Your Printing's company blog. My name is Debby. I am the owner of Your Printing and have created artwork and sold printing for the past 20 years. I have designed thousands of projects and have stayed current with all the many changes the industry has gone through over the years. I have watched how scanners have come into our world allowing us to digitalize just about anything and how color printing has come down so much in price that most consumers and small businesses can now afford it. It truly has become so user friendly that with a few basic lessons, anyone can create their own printed piece. I have a lot of interesting topics related to the printing industry that I'd like to share with other people who may have questions or curiosities about printing and graphic art requirements associated to the printed format. This blog is intended for the average person with limited knowledge of the topic but all are welcome to comment, correct or add to the discussion. To get started from the very beginning, I will explain the different formats and what will pertain to us on the printing side.

Graphic artists create artwork for either the web or printed material such as magazines, books, advertisements, promotional items, even product boxes and containers. Something we all take for granted, as simple as a cereal box or the box your toothpaste comes in, were all created by a graphic artist and a printer. Now don't mistake what consumers can print off their home printers. We are talking about print houses and large quantity printing. Artwork created for the web, on the other hand, is a completely different process which any web designer can tell you. They do not deal with spot colors, CMYK, high resolution and other technical jargon that is required in the printing industry. More about that later, but as you can see, printing is a different animal and there is a lot to consider when creating your perfect printed piece. I hope to clear up any confusion and answer any questions you may have. I'll try to keep my posts in a logical order but will touch upon a lot of categories for both Graphic Arts and Printing.
Topics will include:
Art Programs
File Formats
Brokering
Ink
Paper Terms
Specialty Items
Printing Terms and more...
I hope you look foward to learning a little bit about what we do and how we can help you get the best results possible for your projects. Thanks for joining me on my Opening Blog Day!
